 Handmade travel bag, toiletries bag or pencil case

Whatabout ye folks, it's Lee here.  I wanted to share this little, or kinda largish travel bag or possibly a very large pencil case with you.  You might recognise the fabric, from this post where I shared an apron I made for my wee brother for Christmas using vintage fabric from Moygashel.  I won't go into all the details again, but my wee brother is in his 3rd year at Queen's University. Belfast studying Aerospace Engineering.  He got his pilots licence when he was just 19 years old and I thought this fabric was perfect to make him a few gifts with.  This fabric commemorates the maiden flight of Concorde in 1969, so the fabric is old.....even much older than me, teehee.   But as I had a tiny piece left, I didn't want to waste it.  So I decided to make him a little travel bag that would be handy for toiletries.  Or, as he is almost a fully fledged Aerospace Engineer, I am sure he needs a lot of mathematical tools, drawing materials etc., for Uni.  So this would be perfect.  And as it's around 14 inches wide, a 12 inch ruler will fit inside it perfectly.  

As usual, I watched videos on these simple little bags on Debbie Shore's channel.  There wasn't one in particular, as I watched a few and then just winged it, lol.  It's a very simple make and so incredibly fast to make too.  I think I have a few more of these to make in the future.  

I love this image on this side of the bag.  It's just a simple zip closure bag.  I used H630 fusible fleece to give the bag a bit of structure too.  H630 is not quite as heavy as H640 which I think is best for this type of smaller bag.

I lined it with a polka dot poly cotton fabric on the inside.  I think the colour looks pretty close the the greenish plane. 

So, this is one side...

And here's the other.  I'm chuffed to pieces with how it turned out.  And it's already wrapped up and ready for Christmas Day.

A very quick and simply make which I thoroughly enjoyed making.  It was nice to do a quick project after making the Passion Flower Tote.  Not that it was terribly difficult....but a nice quick project was a nice little palette cleanser.
