Handmade handbag - Passion Flower Tote from Blue Calla patterns
Whatabout ye folks, it's Lee here.  Back with another Passion Flower Tote bag from Blue Calla Patterns.  I loved making the first one that I gave to our wee Mamma for Christmas so much that I wanted to make myself one too, lol. Our wee Mamma loved it by the way.  She didn't actually believe that I had made it......which could be taken in a couple of ways, teehee.....but I took it as a compliment and we had a good giggle about it, lol.   Now.......I did make a couple of silly mistakes when I made this particular bag, but that was on me, not the pattern.  As I made the first one, I was pretty confident and thought that I didn't need to look at the instructions again and I made a silly little mistake with the rivets on the straps and sewing over them on the top stitching at the top.  But it's ok.....it's for me and I promise, I won't judge myself........much! teehee.  I will most likely go back in and fix my mistakes but for now, I was just happy to get it photographed and posted on here, lol.
I found this gorgeous Laura Ashley duck egg blue fabric as a 3m bundle on Ebay on Pandora's Upholstery (details below in the shopping list) and I got such a fantastic deal on it. Unfortunately the colour isn't quite showing up as duck egg blueish as it is in real life....these daylight bulbs are killing my photography game, lol.   I had originally purchased it to re-cover my kitchen chairs.  But I only had 2 small chairs to re-cover so I had a tonne of this fabric left over and it's a lovely, thick linen textured cotton that I thought it would be perfect to make into a bag.
I purchased a wee kit of purse feet that I found on Amazon (listed below) just to keep the bottom of the bag clean. They came in various colours, silver, gold, gunmetal and bronze.
I decided to sew a decorative hatching to the bottom of the bag.  This wasn't in the pattern, but I think it adds a little more of a professional finish to the bag.  It's not difficult to do, I just sketched it out onto the wrong side of the bottom panel and sewed along the lines I had drawn.  I think it looks great and is a nice wee touch.
I added another metal "handmade" tag, this time using a darker, oval one which I though complimented the dark tones in the fabric.
It has a large pocket with a magnetic closure to the front of the bag.
This faux leather is so fantastic to work with.  It's lovely a soft but strong for a bag and my machine has no issues with sewing through it.  Particularly when I use the wee non-slip teflon foot on my machine.
The wee decorative zipper stop just adds another professional touch to the bag.  This bag also has an adjustable shoulder strap (not shown) that you can add to the D-Rings and they simply hook on and off using a lobster swivel clasp on each side.
On the inside, I used the pebble polka dot fabric.  This was also 100% cotton but was more upholstery weight and had a linen texture to it whilst being super soft and lovely to work with.
The bag has a lovely big and secure zip pocket on the inside...
Along with 3 slip pockets on the opposite side.  The middle pocket is a little wider and the 2 pockets either side are perfect for your phone and other bits and bobs
The brown faux leather with the bronze coloured rivets set the fabric off nicely.  I haven't made a bag charm for this bag yet, but it'll probably be my next thing to make.

And that's everything from me for now folks.  See you in the next one.  Toodles Noodles....Lee aka Crafty Loops xx

SHOPPING LIST
At the time of typing, the items I linked to are available (unless stated otherwise).  However, item stocks change all of the time and with time marching by, some items I link may no longer be available from that particular seller.  Or, some of the items may have been one off auction wins.  Therefore, I cannot guarantee that all the items listed will be available or the links will always work.  However, a quick Google search should help you out if my links are no longer working/available.

I highly recommend the Passion Flower Tote from https://bluecallapatterns.com/.  Celine is a fantastic teacher and her videos are so well thought out and her instructions are very clear.  I didn't get this pattern for free, I paid for it with my own money.  So this is a very honest review.
