Handmade Quilt - Shadow Boxing from Jordan Fabrics

Handmade Quilt - Shadow Boxing from Jordan Fabrics Whatabout ye Folks, it's Lee here.  Firstly, Happy New Year for tomorrow.  Let's hope 2023 is a little kinder to us all.  Secondly, apologies for the photos.  This quilt was extremely difficult to photograph.  The simple reason is, I have a super tiny house.  So to be able to get the whole quilt in the frame, meant having to move WAYYYY back......and I just didn't have the room to do this in my teeny house.  I was practically sitting on the cooker for this 1st photo and my poor Scrubby was standing there with his arms up, holding this quilt and trying not to move whilst I took rapid fire photos, lol.  And the one I took on the bed....well, I would have needed to be outside my bedroom window to get it all in properly.  So, sorry.....I did the best I could in my tiny house, lol. This quilt is called Shadow Boxing and is a free pattern from Jordan Fabrics on YouTube .  I am over the moon with how the boxes pop from the qui

Carpenter's wheel Patchwork Quilt

Carpenter's wheel Patchwork Quilt So, here I am with my 3rd quilt.....I think it's my third, lol.  It's another Donna Jordan, from Jordan Fabrics pattern.  Here instructions and YouTube videos really are amazing.  They make a new sewer like me feel confident enough to make a quilt like this.  Although, maybe this is easy for most people....but as I said, I'm still pretty new to all this sewing business.   This quilt is for my almost 21 year old wee bro who is studying for his Masters in AeroSpace Engineering at Queen's University in Belfast.....the kid is a bloody genius, I tell ya!  Did I say he got his pilots license when he was only 19 years old!?  He was the youngest person to get his license in the shortest amount of time.  To say I am incredibly proud of him, is an understatement.  He's so incredibly smart but is such a kind and humble person.....unlike his big sister, when it comes to bragging about him, teehee.  But I'm his big sister...I'm allo

Diamond squared handmade Quilt

Diamond squared handmade Quilt Diamond squared quilt pattern, from Jordan Fabrics on YouTube What about ye folks, it's Lee here. Welcome back and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!.  This is a big one for me as a novice sewer because I've never made anything this technical or difficult before. But the free pattern that I got from Jordan Fabrics and their fantastic video on YouTube made making it simple. The cutting out probably took longer than the actual sewing. Donna Jordan is an incredible teacher when it comes to breaking down intricate patterns and making them easy to sew for beginners like me. I never thought in my wildest dreams that I'd be able to make a quilt this detailed and geometrically intricate. But I'm overjoyed with the end result. This is the quilt in natural light.  I love the colour and these gorgeous fabrics This is the size, on my king sized bed.  Its probably a double sized quilt. The quilt is made using fat quarters.   I love the design it made.  My favourite s

Jelly roll race Quilt for my Niece

Jelly roll race Quilt for my Niece Whatabout ye folks?!!! I should have shared this years ago....but I'm a disaster, teehee.  3 years ago, I shared the little tiny rag quilt that I frantically threw together to give to my niece as her "proper" quilt hadn't been finished yet.  It only took me 2 1/2 years (yes you read that correctly...two and a half years!) but I FINALLY finish the long promised quilt for my little niece, Lexi.  The poor child didn't get it until Christmas 2017, lol....and here I am only sharing it now! I am new to anything involving a sewing machine.  I mean, I'm so new to it that I haven't even made the simple beginner projects yet like table runners and placemats.  I still have to consult my users manual every time I thread my machine.....that's how new to all this sewing stuff I am.  So goodness knows where the confidence to make an almost King Sized Quilt came from.  I even quilted the monstrosity myself.  Ok, it was a sim

Baby Rag Quilt

Baby Rag Quilt Rag Quilt Time...... Hello there folks......remember me?  I know, its been a while.  A lot happened in 2016, some amazing and some tragic.  But its a new year and I'm determined that 2017 is going to be a hell of a lot better than last year. One of the amazing things that happened in 2016 was the birth of not one niece but 2 nieces, 6 weeks apart.  My brother had his wee bambino, Jessica in February and then my sister had hers in March, little Lexi Morgan.  Jessica is lucky because her Nanny from her Mummy's side is an incredible seamstress and people seek her out from far and wide to have her sew projects for them, so little Jessica will no doubt be showered with the most miraculous and beautiful handmade quilts ever.  However, on my side of the family, little Lexi Morgan has........ME, who has only made a few sewing projects in her lifetime and most definitely does not have people demanding my sewing creations.  So, Lexi is stuck with me
