Tutorial -How to create a faux leather texture and look
Hello, hello my crafty buds.  I know.......long time no see, eh?  I've been a bloomin' disaster lately!  Lol.  And I can't really think of any excuse other than........"Hi....I'm Mrs Disaster Pants, nice to meet you".  Time just seems to have disappeared of late!

I haven't made much of anything lately.  My brother, Jay and his lovely Fiancée Karen have set a date to get married next June............WOOWHOOOOO!  Karen has said that she might like to make her own invitations.  So I have offered my crafty mitts to her.  As I pretty much have everything she needs here, I've said that we can have a play day with some designs.......Yippeee!  I can't wait.  I'm so excited for her, lol.  I pretty much made EVERYTHING for our wedding and I loved every minute of it.  And our day was perfect.....for us anyway, lol.  I can't believe we just celebrated 2 years of marriage this month.  Anyway, if we have a play around with some designs she can decide if she wants to make them or not.  That way if she hates the idea of making them, she won't be out any expenses with buying all the materials. That would be such a waste of their money.  And we all know how tight money is when organising a wedding.  So this way she can save a few pennies by playing with my toys first, teehee.

Soooooooo.......Ive been designing a few wee invites and favour ideas for her, so at least when she does come round to mine to have a play Karen will at least have something to look at and compare to designs and ideas she wants.

Sadly though..........I can't show you any of the designs just yet, Sorry!

But all is not lost.  When I made my Expedition Journal, see here a lot of people asked me could I do a tutorial on how I made the book look like proper old cracked leather.  I know its taken ages for me to get it done, but here it is finally.  If you have any questions or queries, please comment below or send me a message through the contact button above.

I hope you try this technique and if you do, please let me know so I can come over to see your wonderful work too.

Ps....for all of you who have popped by asking if Im ok and where I've been.....THANK YOU.  I'm fine and dandy.  I just haven't had much time of late for blogging or crafting lately.

See you all soon.  Toodles Noodles.......Loops xx

  4. Hi Lee, I was actually thinking about you and how you have been MIA lately. I'm happy to hear you are ok. Love your new project. I do have a couple of questions about your tutorial. 1st, what was that stuff you added to the umber color paint? 2nd, what is the name of the metallic rub-ons you used? Last, how exactly did you achieve the ripped open look to the journal cover?? It looked like there is some layering, but there is way more to it. Just beautiful. You are a genius!! I love the look of this cover. AMAZING!!!!! Well worth waiting for. Glad to hear you are alive and well. We missed ya!!
    God Bless,
    Kimmie H.

  8. Hello Lee,

I looked down my blog list the other day as it occurred to me I'd not seen you lately, could see it was a few weeks ago when you last posted so set about sending an e-mail.

Needless to say I never quite got round to it and then I see today you posted a few days ago and I missed it.

At least I'm am pleased to see you are OK and back at the tutorials. I was worried you are still suffering from the after effects of the flu.

Getting back to normal, well sort of, so missing my beloved Buffy and my craft room seems empty. And as a result Mr Mojo is gone walkabouts.

    Take care speak soon.

  9. Lee, this is probably the best craft video I have seen. Wonderful! I LOVE your sense of humour, you had me in stitches, and I LOVE the faux leather texture too. Must hunt down some decent Rubens to have a go at this, I reckon it would make an awesome cover for a book card. Well done that woman! So glad I am finally able to see our vids - have my own iPad and data allowance now, mwahahahaha.

  12. Thanks for the lovely tutorial, Lee. My son writes the most amazing stories and I'm thinking of gifting him an ideas/mini journal/"write your story-line" book, and this technique would be perfect as a cover. And I have just the right little book to test it on too.

    1. Oh how fantastic. I do have tutorials on making journals from scratch, if you ever wanted to try a book from start to finish. I have detailed videos too. It's so great that your son writes so much. I was a massive writer as a kid, from poems to songs, plays and stories. I'm sure he will love the "write your story-line" journal. Have fun and let me know if you have any questions. Lee :)
